Pretty Unique Girl Names That Are Beautiful Yet Different

I never, ever get tired of writing about baby names for girls because there are ENDLESS options of pretty, unique girl names!

While  the uber-popular girl name choices like Ava, Emma, Olivia, and Sophia are gorgeous, the beauty of the name gets lost when it becomes so commonplace. A less common name that is just as pretty will stand out much more, and reduce the confusion of having several others in school with the same name.

This list includes unique girl names only- I also have a comparable list of unique boy names and a comprehensive list of 200  unique baby names that includes boys, girls, and unisex.

Pretty unique girl names

For categorization purposes, I’ve separated this list by style to include names that are vintage, pretty, creative, and ultra rare!

After you’ve found the perfect first name, read my top picks for middle names for girls or just be inspired by these beautiful first and middle name combinations!

Vintage girl names

Unique girl names vintage

If old-fashioned baby names are your thing, I’ve got you covered. I love vintage names because they won’t “date” your child: vintage is always in! Your daughter will stand out from the sea of trendy new baby names if you go with an old classic beauty like one of these.

Pretty unique girl names

Of course, I think ALL the names on my lists are pretty! These names just have that sweet and feminine “pretty” vibe more than anything else. Unlike “cute” names, which tend to only work on a baby or little girl, pretty names are adorable for a baby as well as beautiful for an adult woman.

  1. I heard the name Franklyn for a girl and Landis for a boy. I just had a baby 3 weeks ago and named him Liam. My next, if it’s a girl, will be Joelle.

    1. Cute names! Funny you mentioned a baby girl Franklyn… I’m working on a post about all the new boy names being used on girls- definitely a major naming trend right now!

  2. my fiance name is joelle. and she is so beautiful. we only know one other person named ljoelle. her mom found her name in a shoe lol. but her sisters are danielle, Joelle, Michelle, and Nikkelle. Caitlin you should do sibling names that flow together. that would be fun. Happy New Year all. Also our daughter is due in march and her name will be Grey Everleigh or spelled Everly. we havent decided. short but sweet. we just fell in love with it driving in pittsburgh past a street called Grey and were hooked ever since

  3. 1 more thing to add to my first comment i have a baby on the way we dont know what it is yet im 8 weeks cant wait!!😁😁😁💓💓🤰 i wonder what it will be leave a reply and tell me what u think boy or girl

    1. Hmm… my first reaction said BOY…. come back and let me know if I’m right! Any name ideas for this one? I always found choosing a name gets harder the more kids you have!

  4. I have one boy and his name is Aries Constantine. It fits him so well and I’m in love with his name! Still have only seen it on the 1 list that I chose it from. I have a pretty rare name so I wanted to choose something uncommon for my son as well!

  5. My husband & I do not have any kids yet. But when we go, I’d love to name our girl, Haven & our boy, Remington

  6. My daughters name is Soren. Often a boys name. If you’d like to add it to your “boys name being used as girls names” list. Same with the next name I plan on using for a girl: Lennon. Or Oaken for a boy 😅. All very unique…

  7. My name is August. My daughter’s have long names. Oldest is Misty Brooke Payge and other one is Jurney Kyera Paityn.

  8. I’m about to have a baby girl and we chose Claudia Marie after my Grandpa Claude. Kind of an old fashioned name but not common.

  9. I love seeing some of the names on here. My daughter’s middle name is Cyanna-pronounced “see-Anna”. It’s a combination of the beginning of each of our mothers names. I just couldn’t come up with a middle name I loved for her and once I came up with that, nothing else worked. She is Aubree Cyanna.

  11. My husband’s name is Warren..his nickname is Wren..we have 3 kids.. Wrenea Beatrice, Wren Jensen & Wrena Isabelle

  12. I have always loved the name Zaphara for a girl. I haven’t had the chance to use it. For her middle name I would’ve picked Simone. I also love the name Saoirse. More so the spelling. For the middle name I would’ve picked Rhiannon.

My sons name is Dietrich Xavier and my daughter’s name is Camille Eliese.

  13. My daughter’s name is Kepler. We are expecting another girl in December. It’s going to be hard trying to come up with something just as unique.

  16. My daughter’s name is Molli Elisabeth. Our next girl will be Anastasia Josephine (Anni) and if we have a boy Anakin (hubby and daughter are big Star Wars fans) Marklee (A combination of my dad’s name and my father-in-law’s name both have passed)

  17. My daughter’s name is Tanith Grace. I found her name from the Olympian figure skater, but I’ve never found anyone with her name and it’s not on any baby lists. It’s pronounced just how it looks “Tan-ith”, short “a” short “i”. Expecting again and having a hard time finding unique names I like. Thank you for this list.
